Durban’s relaxed lifestyle, friendly population and warm climate makes it a great place to slow down, put your feet up, and call home. Known for its exquisite beaches, seafront promenade, and aromatic spices, this coastal city also has a bustling retirement community.
Nazareth House Durban is nestled in the exclusive residential suburb, Berea, amongst the eclectic mix of architectural styles that include large Victorian, Edwardian, art deco and modern homes. The large property is a tropical oasis with palm trees and rolling green lawns. Situated high on the ridge, one can see views of the harbour and city below.
Managed by an intimate team of compassionate individuals, each resident is treated with care, dignity and respect, and we are committed to extending this level of professionalism to our residents families too. Putting in the extra effort to make your stay welcoming and homely, the nursing teams and professional staff are committed to providing attentive personalized care, at the highest magnitude. You may find the commitment and passion of our staff is reflected in the personal gestures of appreciation.
Maintaining quality of life is the mantra of Nazareth Care. Whether you’re residing in one of our independent retirement apartments or our frail care section, there are many activities to choose from. Our residents are loved and cared for in a holistic way, and we aim to fulfil in all their physical, psychological and spiritual needs. The communal recreational area has seen many musicians perform for the residents and there’s even a market day where local arts and crafts vendors are invited to setup their stalls for the residents to buy a few treats. We offer an activity programme, designed by an Occupational Therapist, dubbed “Life@Nazareth”. Through this program, we provide opportunities for engagement in various activities to cater for each resident’s needs, and specifically designed for each resident’s level of functioning. This is a great mechanism to encourage social interactions where many friendships blossom.
Other in-house experiences include a fully fitted hair dressing salon, movie and entertainment room, outdoor lapa, tranquil gardens, and a magnificent pool area with lounging chairs. This is definite highlight for many of our residents who enjoy a cool dip or partaking in our pool parties! Residents can further enjoy playing the piano at their leisure or join the staff in weekly Zumba class. At the end of the day residents can meet for a social drink before enjoying a delicious and well balanced meal, that is carefully prepared by our on-site Chef, under the supervision of our trusted dietician.
On-site, we have a quiet Chapel. Residents are most welcome to take time to relax and enjoy their peaceful space, whether it be in prayer or a moment of reflection.
Between our beautiful gardens populated with a variety of Palm and old Victorian Oak trees, there is plenty of secure parking for those residents who are still independent and have their own transport.
In the near future, Nazareth House Durban will be inviting dementia and Alzheimer’s residents to their facility, completing a full suite of aged care services on offer. This is especially great as Nazareth House Durban is positioned directly alongside the Life Entabeni Hospital, and accordingly can claim the title of offering the most exceptional medical emergency response team!
We pride ourselves in our ability to have long-lasting relationships with our residents family and friends. If you are interested in accommodation or services at Nazareth House Durban please contact us.
