Nazareth House Palliative Care

Palliative Care

Palliative Care is specialised medical care for people living with a serious illness. The aim is to improve the quality of life of the client and family by providing relief from the symptoms and tension associated with the illness. Palliative care is provided through a multi-disciplinary approach by a team who collaborate with the client’s doctor to provide additional support. It focusses on the client’s needs rather than the client’s prognosis.

Our accommodation is designed for people who require various levels of medical and personal care in their daily lives. Living spaces can take the form of individual rooms, apartments, or shared quarters. The facilities generally provide a home-like setting and are physically designed to promote the resident’s independence. This type of care is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of the illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.

Benefits of
Palliative Care

Many elderly individuals tend to isolate themselves from the world, particularly if they have experienced loss of someone close. Often times, isolation can lead to social anxiety and depression. This is why socialisation and exposure to new faces and personalities is perhaps the most important reason our facility is a good choice for your loved one.

Safety of Your Loved One

Our facilities are set up to provide a safe, comfortable environment for elders. Secure entrances, PURPOSEFULLY DESIGNED bathroom and shower facilities, and on-hand personal care provide peace of mind for the families of our residents.

Nutrition Monitoring

A balanced diet is vital, especially when short or long-term illness increases nutritional demands on the body. Our protein-based meals help prevent loss of muscle mass, and EXTRA CARE is taken to monitor fluid intake to prevent dehydration. Residents are encouraged to enjoy their meals in the communal dining area, with feeding-assistance always available.

Peace of Mind

You can’t put a price on the safety and well-being of your loved one. At Nazareth House you can REST ASSURED that they are being well taken care of in a compassionate, caring environment.

Our organisation places a high value on DIGNITY. We offer respectful assistance with personal grooming and ablutions that allow residents to maintain their sense of selfworth and PRIVACY.

Pressure sores are a common health risk for the elderly, especially those with limited mobility. Through CONSTANT MONITORING and other preventative measures, Nazareth Care reduces the risk of pressure sores.
